Yes, I’m a beer lover but those who know me well also know that I absolutely love cider. When we booked our trip to Portland I couldn’t wait to visit Reverend Nat’s Hard Cider tasting room. There are a few places in Calgary where you can purchase it, but it really is superb. They have such unique combinations of ingredients and they really push the envelope when it comes to flavour profiles. They aren’t scared to mix ingredients!
Visiting their tasting room, we order the big flight which allowed us to taste every cider that they had available. Of course, they were all amazing but there were a couple that really stood out to me. The abbey spice tasted like Christmas in a glass. It was aged in oak and had the classic cinnamon and nutmeg taste. The tent show was another that was modeled after a cocktail called the jack rose. It had brandy barreled cider mixed with pomegranates, lemon, and beets. Very unique! Both the Cascadia tropical hard seltzer and padre Nat’s tepache radler had tropical notes to them. They made you feel as though you were on a beach!
No matter where you are, if you ever get the chance to try Reverend Nat’s ciders do not miss the opportunity. In my opinion, they truly make the best cider out there.
