Out With Erin

Exploring the Beauty of YYC and Beyond

This past weekend we finally had our chance to fly! Booking a flight with Calgary’s newly opened iFly centre, we drove out to Deerfoot City to see what all the talk was about. After checking in, we waited patiently in the room, watching others fly around in the tunnel. I’m not going to lie, I was definitely nervous about it. Sometimes the unknown can be terrifying.

After a quick orientation, we were given our trendy gear which consisted of a stylish suit, goggles, a helmet, and ear plugs. We then loaded into the tunnel area, sitting down on the bench and awaiting our turn to fly. We had two flights booked, each lasting around one minute. The first one allowed you to get comfortable in the new setting and get some tips from the instructor, while the second one got you actually flying up high in the tunnel with the instructor by your side.

The whole experience really surprised me. Not only was it incredibly fun, but it was well organized with friendly workers available the entire time. This business clearly knows what they’re doing. If you haven’t been, and it’s something you’ve even slightly considered, I would without a doubt recommend it. Plus, I hear indoor skydiving is going to be in the 2024 Olympics. Better start your training now!
